Glass Artists Gallery Featured Artist
Christina Spann
In 1991, after 12 years of designing, selling and marketing glass
materials, Christina Spann set out to develop her own line of
lighting. Christina received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, in
1975 in Painting and Drawing from Arizona State
University, and completed graduate work in Printmaking at the
University of California at Santa Barbara. She discovered glass
arts in 1977. Christina frequently speaks at national interior
design seminars and has traveled extensively around the country to
facilitate her large-scale custom projects.
Christina’s line has been described as “transitional,” bridging
the gap between traditional and contemporary; old world craft in a
new world style. She
combines the crafts of glass blowing, fusing, and painting and
metalsmithing. Her goal is to design lighting fixtures that
feature high quality artistic materials, particularly blown or
fused glass and forged iron, that are both sculptural and
functional. Christina takes the most pride in the hand-applied
finishes (such as Antique Bronze, Pewter, or Brushed Nickel) that
can complement any interior design. Her motto: “Fine jewelry for
ceilings and walls.”
Christina has been apart of the Functional Art Gallery artists
since its inception.
