Glass Artists Gallery Featured Artist

Suzanne GuttmanClient: Bargreen | Ellingson; Union Square Grill, Seattle, Washington

Project: Private Dining Room Chandelier Artist: Suzanne Guttman

Functional Art Gallery has worked with restaurant supply and designers on several restaurant remodel projects throughout the NW. The Union Square Grill is in the heart of downtown Seattle adjacent to the Washington State Convention Center. Its Art Deco Suzanne Guttmandécor is rich with color, a perfect combination with the Ceiling Platter Sculpture by glass artist, Suzanne Guttman.

Our client, designer Kira Eichler of Bargreen Ellingson supplied us with fabric and paint swatches to match glass to décor. The private dining room is right off the main bar area and its windows are on street level facing a busy sidewalk at the front of the restaurant.

We were able to match Kira’s vision for the space. “I love the glowing colors that the accent colors give off with the back light.”

The Ceiling Platter Sculpture is a wonderful way to add texture, color and light to a large area. The size of plate glass can vary to fit the space; platters are created and arranged by the artist to match the surrounding décor. Illuminating the platters is done with simple can lights; the Juno IC44 housing lights work well to flood the sculpture with balanced light.

Suzanne GuttmanWe think it’s a spectacular piece. “I’d like to tell you how wonderful your company was to work with, the amount of support and flexibility were great. it’s nice to work with a company that understands glass art and is willing to be creative with you; I would definitely use Functional Art Gallery again. Thanks again for all your help on this project”, says Kira. “Thanks again for all your hard work. I think it turned out great!”
