Andrew Muggleton designs and creates innovative, high-quality modern and contemporary furniture by bending and shaping exotic woods and blending other materials such as metal and glass. His tables, benches, light fixtures, chaises and beds exhibit his unmistakable style, which uses engineering, structural and architectural principals to effect the soothing, organic curves of nature.
Andrew takes his designs from nature where everything is curved--from the smooth pebbles on a beach to an egg. “Sharp jagged edges do not make you feel at ease, but a field of straw bending in the wind, that is inviting,” says Andrew whose entire body of work involves, beautiful subtle curves.
Andrew‘s work incorporates engineering, structure and architecture into each piece. These three things bring him constant inspiration in everyday life. Buildings, bridges, archways, new and old, all provide a fundamental foundation for his designs.
“Simplicity in life is difficult and complicated to achieve,” says Muggleton. “It is easy to have too much going on and spend too much time organizing it.” Andrew takes this approach when designing furniture. It is the desire for simplicity, which helps Andrew avoid the common trap of filling empty space with unnecessary clutter. Keeping the design simple is one of his hardest and most rewarding challenges.
An artist with a devoted following, Andrew’s work has been featured in Miami Home & Décor, Architecture & Design of the West, Boulder Daily Camera, LoDo & Downtown Denver News and Fine Wood Working Magazine.
